Providence Calls Associate Pastor

On March 6, 2022, Providence Church voted to call the Reverend Allison Benfield to serve as Associate Pastor. Rev. Benfield currently serves as the Minister for Spiritual Growth at St. John’s Baptist in Charlotte, NC, where she has served in various positions of increasing responsibility since 2013. Allison's primary focus at Providence will be faith formation for all ages, especially youth and children. She starts at Providence on April 4.

In addition to extensive work with children and their families at St. John’s, Allison is also passionately involved with spiritual growth in the global church. She is a member of the Commission on Transformational Leadership for the Baptist World Alliance, and serves on the leadership board for Baptist Women in Ministry of North Carolina. Allison has also taught master’s level coursework in Christian Education and Spiritual Formation with Children as an adjunct professor at Gardner-Webb University.

A native of Morganton, NC, she holds a bachelor’s degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in Media Studies from UNC-Chapel Hill, and a Master of Divinity with a concentration in Christian Education from the School of Divinity at Gardner-Webb University. In her free time, Allison enjoys dramatic arts, traveling, time in the mountains, a good cup of tea, the Muppets, and dancing.
