We believe God calls each of us to work out our faith as individuals and doing so is best supported in community. We believe in and welcome questions … even difficult ones. We believe the Bible is the inspired word of God and take it seriously but not literally. We believe in the separation of Church and State — and that even now the Church remains God's greatest hope for making the world a better place. We believe in the infinite value and dignity of all persons and in each individual’s call to serve in places of leadership. Acknowledging the diversity of backgrounds and faith traditions of our congregation, we strive to be a place of solace, meaningful connections and spiritual growth where all feel welcome to experience God's love and redeeming grace through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Worship forms the core of who we are as a congregation and offers us a way to connect with God, one another and our world through music, prayer and proclamation.
Our worship is "formal yet flexible” meaning that most weeks you will find our ministers wearing robes while other services are much more casual.
One signature characteristic of services at Providence is "participatory worship” as we seek to involve everyone in worship leadership, celebrating our rich diversity as a congregation and recognizing each individual’s unique contribution to the mission and ministry of the church.

We invite guests and members alike to listen for how God is leading you to give of your gifts, to engage in activities and interests to enhance your faith walk, and to discover new ways to serve God through Providence. We have opportunities for all ages and stages and hope you will explore how you might get involved.

Providence is a covenant community of committed Christians seeking to live out their faith in meaningful ways in the Charleston area and beyond. Our approach to church leadership is intentionally member-oriented.
Believing that "each member is a minister" we maintain laity-led teams supported by our Ministry Coordination Council which, along with staff, sets and implements church priorities and policies.
