The One Who Loves Us
To the one who loves us and freed us…be glory and power forever and always. Amen. -Revelation 1:5
Have you ever felt down or lost in the days following a momentous event? A wedding, family gathering, graduation, big project at work? Even with happy positive events, the days that follow can include more blues than bliss. The attention and work that was put into planning and preparing the event no longer takes our time, so a sense of loss or confusion may fill the gap left by the energy and adrenaline rush of getting ready.
Is this how the apostles felt in the days following the resurrection? Jesus had been trying to tell them that his death and resurrection were coming, even if they didn’t always understand him. But, now what? How would they be able to follow up from the highs of the resurrection and Jesus’ subsequent appearances to them? What does it mean to follow Jesus now?
When Jesus was with them, they always knew he was THE ONE WHO LOVES US because they could see it in his actions and his words. But now that he’s gone in the form that that’d always known, how will they know he is still THE ONE WHO LOVES US? How do we today know that Jesus is THE ONE WHO LOVES US? We hope you’ll be present for worship during the Sundays of Eastertide as we consider this question. How do we know or feel that Jesus is indeed THE ONE WHO LOVES US?
